Musoke Babra Nalwoga

Musoke Nalwoga (1994) was born and raised in Uganda. She is currently working in Amsterdam as a curator and researcher with a focus on contemporary art. Musoke studied Art History at University College Roosevelt in Middelburg, did a master's in Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam, and a research masters in Critical studies at Sandberg Institute. Musoke is the founding director of Motormond Amsterdam, a new art gallery that aims to give a much-needed update to the idea of the ‘white cube’. In her position as a researcher, she has contributed to the curatorial programs of Sonsbeeck 20 -24, The Cobra Museum of Modern Art, Framer Framed and taken on a guest lecturing position at the University of Amsterdam as part of the master's program Art and Performance Studies. Musoke has also just finished a research residency at De Appel in Amsterdam. In January, she joined the team at Metro54; a platform for young artists, thinkers, activists, writers, who push the boundaries of their (art) disciplines.Musoke has also been invited to guest curate the Fashion For Good exhibition on Cotton: Twisted Pasts and Unraveling Futures. Musoke has also been invited to offer an inter-departmental academic program at the Sandberg Institute starting next September. The program that she proposed will explore the various ways the festival model of curating can be stretched and transformed into fertile ground for developing methodologies that help art practices survive the traumas of capitalism as they interact with cultural institutions.
